Today, I arrived at camp. It’s a program and high school course on sustainability leadership that kicks off in the summer and then carries on into the fall. I was a participant myself four years ago, and have come back as an organizer and facilitator on our senior leadership team every year since.
One of my colleague’s little sisters came to drop him off to camp. Her name is Rea and she is my stranger of the day.
Rea is about to embark on a meditation retreat with her family. She’s only in grade seven but she’s already started to appreciate the art and practice of meditation. She likes how peaceful it is.
Rea’s enrolled in a gifted program at school. She also works actively toward making her school more environmentally sustainable, having created an environmental group promoting composting and waste diversion. Impressive, hey?
On top of this, Rea is acting in a play in her community. She loves theatre and hopes to continue with it for a long time.
